Hair Help: Detangling the Trends

Every month, hair doctor extraordinaire Lisa Shepherd gives you the hair how-to to dazzle. Read on for her fabulous round-up of Autumn’s hottest trends, straight from the catwalk. You heard it hair first!

With autumn just around the corner and new season fashions hitting the shops as we speak, it’s time to start thinking about getting rid of those dry, damaged and sun-bleached locks. And with so many fabulous new ‘dos to choose from, hair heaven really does beckon this season.

Lisa Shepherd, our gorgeous hair columnist from Lisa Shepherd Kidderminster, talks us through the trends for tresses this autumn/winter.

Bright Young Things

Take inspiration from the Nu-Rave wave that has swept the country by showing off shades of fuschia, damson, lime and daffodil. Or try turning your tresses two-tone as seen at Gareth Pugh’s latest show. Contrast jet black and warm sand or inky, midnight blue and bold, berry red for the most vibrant and modern effect.

To tailor them down for the high street, try mahogany rather than pink and gold rather than luminous yellow.

Back to Nature

Think au naturel this autumn/winter with gentle hues that are guaranteed to flatter even the palest of skin tones. Stark platinum gives way to warm vanilla, fiery copper softens to shades of strawberry and ravishing raven is transformed into muted mocha.

Fringe Benefits

Defined fringes were prominent on the catwalks this season with models from Chanel, Burberry Prorsum, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Lanvin sporting bold bangs. Stay on trend by asking your hairdresser to skim your fringe down the edge of your cheeks so that it is flatteringly face framing but still exudes an air of mystery.
